National Institute of Technology Mizoram, (NIT Mizoram) an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament was established in the year 2010. NIT Mizoram is, at present, situated at Chaltlang, Aizawl. Aizawl is the capital city of Mizoram. Mizoram has a mild and pleasant climate. The temperature varies from a minimum 70C in the winter season to 300C in the summer season. The Institute is functioning from temporarily hired buildings at Chaltlang, Aizawl. The permanent campus of the Institute is coming up at Lengpui, Aizawl, near airport. The institute offers Ph. D. Programmes in Engineering, Science and HSS, M. Tech. Porgrammes in Computer Science & Engineering, Power Electronics & Drives,  Microelectronics & VLSI System Design  and UG Programmes leading to the degree of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Hostel with the centralized mess facility is provided to all students. All the departments are equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories. The Institute is having Central Digital Library with facility of e-books in addition to books on rack.



In order to serve the diverse library needs of the Engineering Undergraduate, Post graduate, Research Scholars, the faculty members, and other library users the central library has collections of Textbooks, e-Books, Reference books, Conference proceedings, Annual report, Magazines and non-book material such as CD-ROMS etc.


The central library holds more than 7000 educational books which are as per the course requirement of the various semesters of different departments. The central library accept donations of books from all corners. These donated books are classified and recorded separately for references.

Due to space constraints the central library has not much collection of Reference books since books which are of immensely required are only collected. But the available reference books has really aid the users in imparting of knowledge and its dissemination as well.
