National Institute of Technology (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) Warangal (NIT Warangal), was established in 1959, the first in the chain of 31 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country. It is an Institute of National Importance and fully funded by Govt. of India. It has a self-contained residential campus located in a beautiful wooded land of about 248 acres.

The exquisite and intricate architecture of Ramappa, Thousand Pillar Temple, Bhadrakali Temple and Lake and the Warangal Fort have been centers of attraction. Lovely gardens,  lakes and rocks in the vicinity are other places of interest for students.

NIT Warangal is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic environment. Ever since the inception, the Institute is constantly striving to achieve higher levels of technical excellence. Evolving a socially relevant and yet internationally acceptable curriculum, implementing innovative and effective teaching methodologies and focusing on the wholesome development of the students are our concerns. Many developmental activities were undertaken with the financial assistance from UNESCO, UK and the World Bank Assistance under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP).

Location: The Institute is located in the historical city of Kakatiya dynasty, Warangal and is 10 km away from Warangal railway station and 2 km from Kazipet junction. The city is about 175 kms from International airport, Hyderabad.

Academic Programs:

The Institute currently has thirteen academic departments and a few advanced research centers in various disciplines of Engineering, Sciences and Management, with nearly 100 laboratories organized in a unique pattern of functioning, The Institute offers 8(eight) Under Graduate programs (B.Tech.,) in Engineering, 32 Post Graduate programs (M.Tech., M.Sc., MCA and MBA) in all disciplines and Ph.D programmes in all engineering and science departments. The Institute is well-known for its Research and Development, Industrial consultancy, Continuing education and Training programs for Teachers as well as professionals working in Industry.
